PreRamble: I bought some new eyeglasses yesterday.
When it consistently took me an extra couple of blinks to get a visual lock on the tiny white font on my phone, I suspected that my prescription had changed.
Yep — one eye exam and 20,000 potential frames later, I once again have the laser-sharp retinal response of a teenager ( … a teenager with good vision).
As I tried on potential frame #19,999, it occurred to me that framing up my vision (literally) was identical to framing up the visions of my clients in my Strategic Overview consulting work.
Prescription eyewear affords the person wearing them an opportunity to see the various elements in their world more clearly. It brings focus to an otherwise blurry scenario … and with that focus, the potential for an increased clarity and understanding.
Similarly, the visual Overview framework brings focus to the various elements in the client’s world so that they can be clearly seen and considered. It also captures and communicates a client’s unique holistic personal or organizational vision on one page, affording them the opportunity to see the bigger picture of the patterns and dynamics there.
The Take-Away: New eyeglasses bring renewed focus and clarity to my work/world; the Overview Platform can bring new focus and clarity to yours.
